How To Choose An IT Career Path

Going into a platform like Cloud Guru, it’s like going into a shopping mall.

Hello. My name is Jubee, co-founder at Yellow Tail, where we help people with no IT background get their first high-paying IT job. So today, I want to talk about how IT learning platforms are like shopping malls. Going into a platform like Cloud Guru, it’s like going into a shopping mall. There are so many options, so many things to learn, so many attractive new technologies, and so many training tracks. You can easily be overwhelmed and confused, and I get that. And I usually see it with students, with multiple courses started, but they couldn’t quite complete them, they are jumping around. And you see it every day. Students come to Yellow Tail with a lot of incomplete knowledge in many different areas in IT. They haven’t figured out the logical next step to get closer to getting a job in IT. Sometimes they don’t even know what job they are optimizing for, which is a sure way to actually waste your time and money.

So they ended up knowing a little bit about a lot, but not enough to translate into any valuable expertise with market value. And this is usually a lack of direction. It’s like trying to hit a target that keeps moving. The first thing you need to do, is to lock in on the target. It’s like IT: the first thing you need to do is to lock it on a career track, and then you are more likely to actually achieve that. For most people, the only thing that’s clear is the fact that they want a career in IT, but they don’t know where to start or how to efficiently go about it. Here at Yellow Tail, we do things differently. We have specific career tracks. We have a clear framework, specific career goals for our students, but most importantly, a specific timeline to achieve them.

Now, if you want a clear roadmap to break into IT, check us out at yellowtail.tech to see what we’re about. Look around. If it looks like a good fit, schedule a career strategy session with our team, and let’s talk about it. And of course, if you got any value out of this, like, share, subscribe, and stay tuned for other videos like this one.
