The reason why I chose this program was that it was the only one out there close to my house and work. Commuting-wise, it was convenient, and it had a small class environment. I didn’t know of any other programs out there.
What results did you achieve from this program?
The results that I got were a new job and new opportunities, which opened the doors to other possibilities in my field.
Would you recommend this program to others? What would you say to a friend considering it?
I would recommend this program to a friend. I would tell them, if you’re looking for something new that leads to new opportunities and opens more doors, go for it.
Come to this Lnx for Jobs program, take as much as you can, study as much as you can, and get yourself out there. Once you get the certification, doors will open.
What was your experience like during the course?
The first day of class, we introduced ourselves like any class would. Then throughout the days, weeks, and month, we grew kind of like a family, getting to know each other, asking how the weekend went, starting group sessions, and communicating on the Slack board.
We pushed each other, motivated each other, it was great. The professor was always on top of us, teaching and telling us if we needed help, to please reach out. It was a great experience.
What surprised you the most after completing the program?
What surprised me the most after getting my certification was the number of recruiters contacting me once I posted my resume online. After a few days, I was getting calls from recruiters at least once or twice a day. Email-wise, they would say, “Ciprian, I saw your resume on Indeed, on DI, on LinkedIn. Do you have time to talk? I have a great opportunity for you.”
Can you tell us about the job opportunities you encountered?
The number of job opportunities across the state and beyond was surprising. I had job offers from California, Washington State, Florida, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Maine, and more.
What else did you learn about the Linux environment during and after the class?
During the class and after, once you’re exposed to the Linux environment, there’s so much out there. It seems hidden at first, but once you start opening doors, it’s another world. As a Linux Infrastructure Engineer, you realize just how vast and versatile this field is.
