Celebrating Teachers Appreciation Week with Yellow Tail Tech. Thanking mentors who inspire.

Happy Teachers Appreciation Week to the Mentors Who Inspire

Happy Teachers Appreciation Week! Every year, National Teacher Appreciation Week gives us a chance to slow down and reflect on the incredible educators who shape our lives, careers, and futures. It’s not just a box to check on the calendar — it’s a heartfelt moment to pause and thank the teachers, mentors, and instructors whose hard work helps students grow.

At Yellow Tail Tech, we thank the amazing instructors who guide our students‘ journeys into the tech world. Believing in their students’ potential, these instructors provide the support and encouragement needed to overcome challenges and succeed.

This week is the time for everyone to remind these hardworking mentors that they deserve celebration.

Let’s not forget the joy teachers bring to their students’ lives through their dedication and passion.

So, what exactly does Teacher Appreciation Week mean — and how can you join in?

What Does Teacher Appreciation Week Mean?

Teacher Appreciation Week is a special time to show gratitude to educators who make a big difference in the lives of their students.

While the latest technology has made it easier for teachers to create engaging lessons and for students to learn, we must not forget the hard work and dedication of teachers that matter most.

Teachers are the backbone of the educational system, and their efforts deserve to be celebrated during Teacher Appreciation Week.

National Teacher Appreciation Week is a dedicated time each year to recognize the teachers who make a meaningful mark on students’ lives.

In the United States, Americans typically celebrate in early May, with National Teacher Appreciation Day falling on Tuesday of that week.

But it’s about more than just a date. It’s about recognizing that teachers do far more than deliver lessons. They create opportunities, believe in students, and help shape futures.

From preschool teachers introducing little ones to their first ABCs, to tech instructors helping adults change careers, teachers across the country (and the world) are making a real impact in their classes.

It’s about more than one school, classroom, or program — a national moment to remember that teachers matter in every corner of life.

Dedicated teachers work tirelessly to present educational content in a way that students can easily understand, contrasting with the negative influence of ineffective educators.

They ensure students feel safe and supported, fostering a nurturing space that promotes well-being and appreciation.

How to Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week

You don’t need to throw a big event or spend much money to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. Often, the best gifts come from the heart.

Here are a few simple but meaningful ways you can show appreciation:

  • Write a heartfelt message. Tell your teacher how they’ve impacted your life.

Whether it’s a handwritten note, an email, or a quick message, your words can make their day.

  • Send a small gift. A thank-you card, a little plant, or even a coffee gift card can brighten their day.
  • Organize a class surprise. If you’re part of a class or cohort, work together to send a group thank-you or surprise video.
  • Share your thanks publicly. Post a shoutout on social media, especially on Facebook.

Join in on appreciation hashtags to make sure your teacher’s efforts are recognized.

  • Help them enjoy discounts. Many businesses offer special deals or freebies for teachers during this week. Remind them to take advantage!
  • Encourage them to download helpful resources. Suggest downloading the Box Tops app or art templates for creative projects to enhance educational initiatives.
  • Research deals. Gather information about discounts, deals, and freebies available for teachers. Enlist students and community members to compile a comprehensive list that can benefit educators.
  • Sign a digital card. Organize a group gift initiative where everyone can sign a digital card to show their collective appreciation.

At Yellow Tail Tech, we’ve seen firsthand how much appreciation matters to our instructors — and our students are full of gratitude. Ensuring educators are treated with respect and dignity is essential, especially during Teacher Appreciation Week.

The Impact of Teachers on Students

Teachers have a profound impact on the lives of their students, shaping their minds and helping them grow into capable and confident individuals.

A great teacher can make a big difference in a student’s life, providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen career. Teachers are more than just educators; they are role models, mentors, and friends, providing guidance and supporting their students throughout their educational journey.

The impact of teachers on students extends beyond the classroom, with many students carrying the lessons they learned from their teachers into their personal and professional lives.

We can show appreciation for teachers and acknowledge their significant role in shaping students’ lives and our country’s future. It’s a way to recognize the lasting mark that teachers leave on their students’ lives.

What Teachers Want

Teachers want to be respected and valued for their hard work and dedication to their students and the educational system. They want to be provided with the resources and support they need to create engaging and practical lessons that benefit their students.

Teachers want to positively impact their students’ lives and feel recognized for their efforts and achievements.

They also want to use the latest technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience and provide their students with the best possible education.

By understanding what teachers want, we can create a more supportive and appreciative environment that benefits teachers and students and helps to ensure the best possible outcomes for everyone involved.

You made tough topics like containers easy to follow and actually fun to learn. I really appreciate your patience, clarity, and real-world tips you shared along the way. You made me feel seen and heard, and for that, I am truly grateful. Thank you for everything!”

Dani said, “I’d like to thank Javier! He was the OpenStack TA and was so dedicated to our cohort. He even held weekend study sessions. Javier was kind and patient!

I’d also like to thank Mr. David! He was the best teacher I’ve ever had — very down-to-earth, and he had a way of simplifying concepts so beginners like me could grasp them!

I liked getting to class early just to catch the jam session before class! The lessons taught by both of you have left a lasting impact on my personal and professional growth.”

Andy Dieujuste reflected, “Happy Teacher Appreciation Week, Allan Michel!

Thank you for all the guidance and real-world insights you shared with us. One of my favorite memories is when you’d say, ‘This shortcut might work, but I am not teaching it that way.’

It reminded me that mastering the fundamentals matters most. You’ve made Linux less intimidating and a lot more empowering. Appreciate everything you did and do.”

Godfred Yeboah shared, “For Georges Rousseau, Jordan Hall, and Riky Clemente — thank you for your unwavering dedication, patience, and passion. Lastly, Chris Bigner dedicates his message to many teachers:

“To Alfred, thank you for teaching me the skills I need so that I can one day be able to take my son everywhere and be able to see the world.

To Anthony: Thank you for teaching me and giving me a realistic view of what to expect in the real-world work environment. It really takes the mystery out of it and makes me less anxious.

To Riky: Thank you for teaching me the fundamentals of IT and Networking, because it all came back around, Networking in Linux and Sec.+. It’s all connected and I see that now. Thank you.

To Jerry: Thank you for teaching me the cybersecurity side of things. I really enjoy your classes and the weekend extras are awesome.”

These words speak volumes — they show that our instructors don’t just teach; they change lives.
